‘Machete’ Blu-Ray Cover Art And Release Date

Published

on

Originally a fake trailer attached to the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double feature extravaganza Grindhouse, Ethan Manquis and Rodriguez’s full-length adaptation of Machete is making its way to Blu-Ray and DVD on January 4, 2011. Featuring an all-star cast including Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro and Jessica Alba, the balls-to-the-wall action flick tells the story of Machete, an ass-kicking ex-Federale who lays waste to anything that gets in his path. Double crossed and left for dead, he takes on hit men, vigilantes and a ruthless drug cartel as he makes his way towards the truth. Available as a 2-Disc Blu-ray with Digital Copy or a 1-Disc DVD, no specs have been released as of yet, other than the promise of “exclusive deleted scenes that reveal never-before-seen characters, twisting plot lines, and more bloody good action!” The cover art below is different front the previously released one, though this could just be the slipcase. Check back here for final release specs.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.

If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
