Last night, at the Revolver Golden Gods awards ceremony, the official video for Pantera‘s Piss was shown to the audience and viewers around the world. The song was recorded during the Vulgar Display Of Power and was recently discovered by drummer Vinnie Paul while putting together the 20th anniversary edition of said album. It is technically the first new single from the band since the Reinventing The Steel era. You can watch the video below and get the song on iTunes here.
Upon watching the video last night, I couldn’t help but feel something that I hadn’t felt in a long time. It’s an indescribable feeling, one that only fans of Pantera can understand. Hearing Phil, Vinnie, Rex, and Dimebag together again, even if it was just a remixed, remastered oldie, was something magical.
Having met and partied with Dimebag, it was also a bit painful to watch the video. It’s a stark reminder of the great loss we experienced almost 10 years ago. So even though this video is a time for celebration (we get to hear some new Pantera!), I still want to take a moment for Dimebag Darrell Abbott, Erin Halk, Jeff “Mayhem” Thompson, and Nathan Bray. R.I.P. gentlemen.
