Universal’s ‘The Thing’ Crash Lands October 2011

After lining up a few weeks of additional photography (for more character development), Universal Pictures has rescheduled The Thing (set report) for release on October 14, 2011. Directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., the prequel to John Carpenter’s classic 1982 sci-fi redo starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton begins when paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. The creature feature opens before Paranormal Activity 3 (October 21) and Dibbuk Box (October 28).
