Horror In Your House Invaded By ‘The Walking Dead’

Published

on

This week is led by the release of season one of Frank Marshall’s Zombie television show “The Walking Dead.” It’s not just a good zombie show; it was one of the best shows on television last year period. Low budget horror also has a few decent looking offerings this week with the perverse and twisted The Abducted and a demonic love story titled The Shriven. Also out is a film about zombies on a farm, aptly titled Zombie Farm.

THE ABDUCTED – Brain Damage Films

Valora was just your average, all American girl; looking for love in an online world. Then she met Ridley. He was strong, good looking, and best of all, he listened. So she agreed to meet him. It was a public place after all. What could happen? Ridley was just your average, all American psychopath; looking for love in an online world. Then he met Valora. She was strong, good looking, and best of all, she listened. So he arranged to meet her. It would be a public place; after all, he was careful. Shortly after their meeting, Ridley kidnaps Valora and takes her on the date of a lifetime. She can stay and talk or she can run; her choice. He likes when they run. It becomes sport. Valora chooses not to run and the courtship begins. Over the next few days Valora is tortured, physically and mentally, but Ridley, oddly remains always the gentlemen. In his own perverse way, he’s trying to woo her. With nothing left to lose, Valora puts her plan in motion to turn the tables. The hunted becomes the hunter. The victim becomes the victor, but only after putting Ridley through everything that he put her through first.

MICAH SAYS: I haven’t personally seen this so I can’t make a recommendation one way or another, but I have heard the acting is top notch and this is a solid effort from peeps I trust.

ALIEN FROM THE DEEP – One-7 Movies

Somewhere deep in the jungle a chemical corporation dumps tons of toxic waste in a still active volcano. Two environmentalists try to expose these illegal ways of getting rid of hugely dangerous waste, but they get caught by the vigilantes working for the company. One of them, the super-hot Maria Giulia Cavalli, manages to escape and she is saved by a snake farmer who lives alone in the jungle. Together they try to bring down the company, but it’s too late. Years of chemical poisoning have spawned a deadly monster that is set out to exact revenge on the humans that have unknowingly brought him to life.

MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: VOL. XX – Shout! Factory

Sit back, when you’re not doubled over with laughter, that is for four classic episodes of this hilarious Peabody Award winning series. Crow T. Robot, Tom Servo and your host Joel Robinson (Joel Hodgson) are back to riff on your . . . erm . . . favorite movies and television series of yesteryear with all the TLC only the Satellite of Love crew can deliver. And for this XXth volume of the outstanding, groundbreaking series, we’re making it a very special Mystery Science Theater 3000 Joel-bilee! And you’re on the guest list! Titles included in this set: Project Moonbase, Master Ninja I, Master Ninja II & The Magic Voyage Of Sinbad.

PELT – Osiris Entertainment, LLC

An aging couple travels to an exotic island in order to give their fading sexual life a boost. Little do they know that they will get far more than they are ready to ask for when black magic, cannibalism, tons of perversions and lustful natives enter the picture leaving no stone unturned.

THE SHRIVEN – Shriek Show

Ben has always been troubled by violent nightmares about himself killing other people. Now they’re getting worse and he doesn’t know why — until he meets Nina, a beautiful woman with a secret — in the dark of night she can transform into a demonic killing machine known as a Shriven. Ben, she reveals, is also a Shriven and he is destined to become her mate. However, Ben is horrified to learn that Shriven must feed on humans in order to live.

MICAH SAYS: This film was shot in an abandoned rat infested furniture factory in Queens according to director Brian Schiavo. The filmmakers secured the building from gangbangers and undesirables by bungee cording the doors closed. Sounds like some *fun* guerilla filmmaking if you ask me.

SON OF TERROR – Midnight Releasing

Halloween never ends for paranoid John Willem. His uncontrollable nightmare is just beginning. He’s battling the voices of good versus evil in his head. John can’t distinguish between reality, memories or dreams. His mental voices like to manifest themselves as characters in his waking life. He’s sick, broke and can’t pay his rent. Due in part to early family conditioning, he never stood a chance in society. It’s now become a good alibi for him to play the tortured artist card. Step inside the mind of a psycho! This is the place where no one is safe. This is the zone where we are all fair game.

SEX AND BLACK MAGIC – One 7 Movies

An aging couple travels to an exotic island in order to give their fading sexual life a boost. Little do they know that they will get far more than they are ready to ask for when black magic, cannibalism, tons of perversions and lustful natives enter the picture leaving no stone unturned… Bonus Features Include: Alternate scene, Unused shots, Hardcore inserts, Original end credits, Photo gallery.

THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (Blu-ray/DVD) –

The project is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live.

The Walking Dead tells the story of the weeks and months that follow a pandemic zombie apocalypse. County Sheriff Rick Grimes travels with his family and a small group of survivors, constantly in search of a safe and secure home. But the constant pressure of fighting off death on a daily basis takes a heavy toll, sending many to the lowest depths of human cruelty. As Rick struggles to keep his family alive, he will discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth.

MICAH SAYS: Is there a horror fan out there that doesn’t like this show? BD users rate it a perfect 5 skulls overall. Easy pick of the week for me as nothing else this week is collection worthy – I’ll have my copy by noon.

THE ZOMBIE FARM – Maya

Rocque (Roberto Montesinos) is a spirit priest, or santero, who’s asked by local resident Ana Maria (Monika Munoz) for protection from her abusive husband. When Rocque tells Ana that he’s powerless to help her, she turns to rival priestess Mama Luna (Nadia Rowinsky). The priestess helps Ana kill her husband, but then adds him to her collection of zombie slaves. Now, Rocque has to keep Ana, and himself, from succumbing to the same zombie fate.

MICAH SAYS: A mix of zombies and voodoo – complete with a dumb trailer.
