While I’ve already watched Steven Spielberg’s Jaws about 42 times in HD on DirecTV, I still would do just about anything for a loseless new transfer supervised directly by Spielberg.
It looks like I may get my wish as AICN, hot off the phone with the iconic director, reports that Jaws will be arriving on Blu-ray in the near future SANS digital corrections (funny from the guy who removed the guns in E.T.).
“There’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct,” said Spielberg. “I’m not going to do any corrections digitally to even wires that show… At this point right now I think letting movies exist in the era, with all the flaws and all of the flourishes, is a wonderful way to mark time and mark history.”
It’s nice to know there are filmmakers who “get it”. Just give me my lossless sound and perfect picture and I’m golden. I just wish I could pre-order my ticket back to Amity today…
