In the first of a slate of horror films from production company Slasher Films (founded by rock legend Slash), Gore Verbinski’s protégé and visionary director Anthony Leonardi III, bring us the previously announced Nothing to Fear, a terrifying and bloodcurdling vintage horror film.

Replacing the previously announced Thomas Haden Church, now starring are Anne Heche (“Hung”), James Tupper (“Mercy”), Willa Holland (Legion, Straw Dogs), Rafi Gavron and Jennifer Stone in the film that follows a young family as it tries to reinvent itself by moving to a small town in rural Kansas. The family is tormented by an ancient demon with an insatiable blood lust.

Content is selling international rights on the creepy tale set to begin principal photography in Louisiana on February 13, 2012. When opportunity knocks, a young down-on-their-luck family packs up their home and moves halfway across the country to re-root themselves into an idyllic little town filled with hopes of a better life. What awaits them however is a tale of betrayal and evil beyond any of their worst nightmares.

Anchored around the complicated, nuanced relationship of the two teenage sisters, NOTHING TO FEAR takes sibling rivalry to a chilling new dimension of bloodlust and fear. Each of the sisters play a dangerous and frightening part of an ancient ritual that unleashes a demonic fury that will change the family forever.

Based on Legend: Stemming from folklore surrounding the actual town of Stull, Kansas, generations of residents and outsiders alike have proclaimed Stull to be one of the seven known gateways to Hell, where once a year, the Devil will rise from the town’s modest graveyard to walk the Earth. For decades, television, music, movies, and more have cautiously addressed the town; its horror is so infamous, even Pope John Paul II refused to fly over its grounds. NOTHING TO FEAR finally pulls the folklore to the forefront and reveals the unsettling fact and fiction rumbling beneath the surface.

Little Mermaid horror

Following in the wake of Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse getting their own horror movies, Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid is the next to get the twisted treatment.

Originally published in 1837, the original tale of The Little Mermaid is now in the public domain, and MSR Media International presents their own horror version of the tale this year.

The Little Mermaid is being distributed by Grindstone Entertainment Group, and the film has officially been rated “R” this week for “Language, some violence and brief nudity.”

In the film from director Leigh Scott, “Dr. Eric Prince, an archaeologist, makes a dramatic discovery on a small Caribbean island—proof of an ancient, advanced prehistoric society. While his dig is in progress, he meets the mysterious and beautiful Aurora Bey and falls in love. Her arrival coincides with several mermaid sightings and strange disappearances.

“When Eric’s friend and mentor, Dr. Ashley, arrives on the island, Ashley uncovers the true identity of Aurora and the dangers of the hidden evil inside Eric’s dig site. Will Eric heed his friend’s advice, or will he be blinded by love and the power of the siren, allowing the world to fall to the forces of evil?”

Lydia Helen, Mike Markoff and Jeff Denton star in The Little Mermaid.

You can watch the trailer now over on MSR Media International’s website.
