Variety’s Jeff Sneider hit Twitter today with an update from the land of insect.
He explained that Universal was pushing back Spike Lee’s Oldboy late summer/early fall because of Josh Brolin’s press commitments for Men in Black 3.
He also broke the disappointing news that Clive Owen is no longer attached, stating, “Don’t think they could make the deal work…”
“ ‘Oldboy’ centers on a man (Brolin) who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path to take revenge on those who destroyed his life.”
The film is a remake of Park Chan-wook’s incredible Korean film, which was based on a Japanese manga of the same name written by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya.
