[SXSW ’12] Prom Night Goes To Sh*t On ‘The Loved Ones’ Poster

The Loved Ones

Sean Byrne’s incredibly twisted and violent The Loved Ones will be making its way to theaters this Spring. But before Paramount pushes the prom night massacre out to all of you, the pic will screen once again at the SXSW Film Festival tomorrow. It will be playing at the Alamo Village @ 9PM. Those of you in Austin, definitely go check it out.

To celebrate the forthcoming release, Paramount has also supplied us with the eye-catching theatrical poster that’ll drop a drillbit in your brain.

Lola Stone asked Brent Mitchell to the prom, but Brent said no, and now he’s screwed. What happens when Lola doesn’t get what she wants? She enlists Daddy’s help to throw a prom of her own, where she is queen and Brent is king — whether he likes it or not. ‘The Loved Ones’ is what happens when puppy love goes horribly, violently wrong. Brent should have said yes….

Jessica McNamee, Richard Wilson, Victoria Thaine, Xavier Samuel, John Brumpton, Robin McLeavy all star. We reviewed the film years ago. Here’s a taste:

I’m digging on this new breed of subgenre, which is brutal, uncompromising and hyper-realistic. Carried by strong performances (by everyone) and stunning cinematography by Simon Chapman, ‘The Loved Ones’ is a beautiful, fresh and engaging horror film that’s a must see.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
