The third season of The Walking Dead has been shooting for about a month at this point and now we’ve got our first look at David Morrissey as “The Governor” courtesy of TV Guide. I’m actually not too familiar with the comics, so it’s not up to me to judge if this adds up to expectations.
Kirkman also told them that, “The Governor in the show is definitely going to be The Governor in the comic. I think that he’s definitely going to be a character that people love to hate and are absolutely entertained by, but also somewhat terrified of. He’s definitely going to be a very important character and a very nuanced character. We are not going to be watering him down. I’m even more excited than ever because now I feel like we’re really getting to ‘the good stuff. Having The Governor in the mix is going to fundamentally change the show in all kinds of awesome and exiting ways. And David Morrissey totally rocks!”
The show, “tells the story of the weeks and months that follow a pandemic zombie apocalypse. County Sheriff Rick Grimes travels with his family and a small group of survivors, constantly in search of a safe and secure home. But the constant pressure of fighting off death on a daily basis takes a heavy toll, sending many to the lowest depths of human cruelty. As Rick struggles to keep his family alive, he will discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth.”
