The Force Unleashed burned me pretty bad. The second in particular was a dreadfully unpolished game that failed in almost every way imaginable. Thankfully, LucasArts is giving the Star Wars video game franchise another big push with Star Wars 1313, a game that will show off a darker side to the franchise. It’s a huge collaborative effort between LucasArts, LucasFilm, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound, and the three gameplay videos I have waiting for you after the break are a damn impressive introduction to this gritty new series.
Plot-wise, Star Wars 1313 is “named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant. The game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. The game emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.” There’s also a chance this is a next-gen game, as no platforms or release windows were announced.
