Writers Jump From ‘Apes’ To ‘Jurassic Park’

While Universal Pictures has been trying all summer to generate new franchises, the studio is getting moving with the fourth installment of its biggest one, Jurassic Park. Deadline reports that Universal is setting Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver to write the script for the fourth film, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy. As previously reported, Spielberg won’t direct this one.

Silver and Haffa penned the incredible Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Fox’s Planet of the Apes sequel that was beloved by fans and critics alike. Their “think outside of the box” mentality is what Hollywood is thriving on, and they are perfect to inject Jurassic Park with new life.

The first three films, which started with the Spielberg-directed 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park based on the bestselling novel by Michael Crichton, have grossed over $1.9 billion worldwide collectively. Universal is rereleasing the original film in post-converted 3D on July 19, 2013.

    This COULD work.

  • With them writing, this could actually be really good.

hoping for a nice epic movie 🙂 and edgy and dark, kind of in vein like the first one :0

    Thanks for this, Mr. D!

This is awesome news! Can’t wait. 😀

  • My only issue with Rise was that it was “PG-13”. Lets get a nice “R” going for our next trip into Jurassic Park!

I can stand when people feel something has to be “R” to be good. It’s also a sign that said someone has a small mind.

  • So I have a small mind due to the fact that when I imagine Dinosaurs/Monkeys escaping captivity there may be a little blood along the way. Ok. I also never said Rise wasn’t good. Relax dude!
