A Slightly Dramatic International Trailer For ‘The Tall Man’

Tournage The tall man

The other day we exclusively premiered the one-sheet for The Tall Man, now witness his rise in the first trailer that comes out of France (where it’s titled The Secret). Thanks to BD reader Glenn for the heads up.

Arriving in theaters August 31 from Image Entertainment, the trailer features star Jessica Biel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blade: Trinity, Total Recall) and the legend of “The Tall Man”. The footage is edited together incredibly “dramatic”, which I find interesting. I’ve heard it’s not incredibly violent like Martyrs.

Directed by Pascal Laugier of Martyrs fame, “In an isolated, slowly dying mining town, children are vanishing without a trace – abducted, the townsfolk whisper, by a mysterious entity known locally as “The Tall Man.” Town nurse Julia Denning (Biel) seems skeptical…until her young David disappears in the middle of night. Frantic to rescue the boy, Julia lives every parent’s darkest nightmare in this twisting, shock-around-each-corner thriller from acclaimed director Pascal Laugier.

Silent Hill‘s Jodelle Ferland also stars with Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, Watchmen), William B. Davis and Samantha Ferris.

Keep up on the film’s official website or Image’s Facebook.

The trailer doesn’t exactly sell it as a horror movie, but it looks pretty damn good. Really like the cinematography, even if a few shots suffer from the digital-looking motion blur.

Why make a trailer like that for a horror movie? Its not bad but it looks more like a drama like the article says.

I’m really looking forward to this, also glad that Laugier is going a different route than Martyrs (which I absolutely love) it’s always good to see a director show a little range rather than getting stuck. But what do I know, I’ve only seen the trailer.

I am so fucking ready for this!

I dig it. I love Laugier’s filming style. You can clearly see this is the same guy that made Martyrs. I also don”t get folks finding this too dramatic. The story is fairly dramatic in theme. I quite like that they”re hiding the horror moments for now. Though I do hope the Tall Man ends up being a supernatural entity and not some sicko with a mask.

I love the look, trailer and poster for this movie. Heard some not good things about it but I’m digging it so far. The only thing that bothers me is the Tall Man. There is only one Tall Man and it’s Angus Scrimm.

this looks pretty good! even though i don’t go out of my way to watch Jessica Biel movies, i’m always happy when she happens to be in a movie that i wanted to see. i really like her and her acting (she’s so beautiful too which isn’t a bad thing! :) )

this movie looks like a must see for me! i’m also happy to see that Jodelle Ferland and SUPERNATURAL’s Samantha Ferris (who played Ellen!) is in this!

Well my worst fears have been confirmed. It looks generic and bland. It’s being touted as “this is not a horror film” by the studio as well.
