Having been the site to discover Birdemic: Shock & Terror (thanks to some of my good friends), you’d think I’d be one of the first to jump on the bandwagon for Birdemic II: The Resurrection. Unfortunately that’s not the case.
Even though many will fight with me on this, James Nguyen’s original indie endeavor is 100% authentic. It’s a man’s true vision to create a Hitchcockian “romantic drama” inspired by Hitchock’s The Birds.
With Birdemic II: The Resurrection, Alan Bagh, Whitney Moore, Chelsea Turnbo and Thomas Favaloro all star in a meta-Birdemic film, an effort by Nguyen that’s incredible self-aware, and thus, in my opinion, not going to be funny. In short, it’ll be a spoof of Birdemic by a director who is now in on the joke.
Gearing up for the San Diego Comic-Con, Severin has released a teaser trailer for the sequel that proves my point. Nguyen, who used to be proud of his ingenuity, has taken to the Uwe Boll camp with this footage by spoofing the end credit joke of The Avengers. It’s without a shadow of a doubt not funny, IMO. What do you guys think?
The sequel, arriving later this year, begins when “a platoon of eagles and vultures attack Hollywood, California. Why did the eagles and vultures attack? Who will survive?”
