New Pics From ‘The Possession’ Bring The Family Together

I’m still totally stoked to see The Possession. Most of my colleagues have had a chance to check it out and most of them really dug it. I could definitely uses a fix of Raimi-inspired chaos. That being said, these new pics from Entertainment Weekly don’t offer much that we haven’t seen in the film’s trailers. But that’s okay!!! We don’t need everything spoiled before release, do we? I’m kind of glad this movie seems to be keeping some of its bigger moments close to the vest.

Based on a true story, ‘The Possession’ is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

Head inside to check out the pics! The Possession haunts theaters on August 31st.

If you’re gonna compare your movie to Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, it better be half as fucking good as those movies were. I don’t know, the more stuff that’s promoted about this movie, the cheaper it looks to me. I really hope this movie isn’t a letdown. The acting looks good, yes, but story and actual direction is what we also came here to see. I just really think this movie would’ve been more effective as R, completely.
