See ‘The Tall Man’ On VOD This Wednesday

VOD is a beautiful thing because of limited theatrical runs like the one given to Pascal Laugier’s The Tall Man. Oh, it’s hitting theaters on August 31, but odds are it’s not going to be playing anywhere near most of you (myself included). Today, Image Entertainment announced that the thriller will come to VOD on Wednesday, August 1 – so, two days from now. Being a huge fan of Martyrs, this has officially become part of my weekend plans.

In an isolated, slowly dying mining town, children are vanishing without a trace – abducted, the townsfolk whisper, by a mysterious entity known locally as “The Tall Man.” Town nurse Julia Denning (Jessica Biel) seems skeptical…until her young David disappears in the middle of night. Frantic to rescue the boy, Julia lives every parent’s darkest nightmare in this twisting, shock-around-each-corner thriller.

Silent Hill‘s Jodelle Ferland also stars with Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, Watchmen), William B. Davis and Samantha Ferris.

i literally JUST watched this movie! i must say it’s excellent. it’s so gorgeously shot and every actor/actress in it is top notch. i’m so happy that this turned out to be as good as i find it. i’m glad i don’t really remember the trailer, that way i was able to just let the story unfold. there is a thing or 2 (MAJOR things) that i need explained though. especially 1 set piece that makes no sense and fucks up the storyline. the sequence in question was very cool and well done but i don’t get it. lol. i highly recommend this movie! i gave it a 9 out of 10 stars.

Terrible movie. Not a horror movie at all. Wouldn’t be out of place on the Lifetime Channel.

Don’t watch this movie. Waste of time. Pascal Laugier should be ashamed of himself.

I pretty much enjoyed it, I guess I would describe as a drama that presents itself as a horror film. Laugier is a very skilled filmmaker and it shows, the movie is beuatiful. I think (much like Martyrs) the score was haunting. Also, anyone who is expecting another Martyrs should ask themselves why. Martyrs was fantastic and powerful, but it’s great to see the director move in another direction, why try to recreate the same film over and over?
