No word on a title, director or cast, by Sony Screen Gems has locked in a September 14, 2012 date for the fifth Resident Evil movie.
We had been told that the studio was looking to reboot the franchise with Resident Evil Begins, which could also be code for “prequel”. Details coming as soon as we have them. No word on if Alice will be the protagonist or if Milla Jovovich will return….
The fourth film in the franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D, arrived in theaters last September and has since earned nearly $300m worldwide. No wonder they’re moving so quickly. The entire franchise has garnered over $700m worldwide.
