Meet ‘Paradise Lost’s Angel of Death!

Djimon Hounsou (“The Tempest,” Push) is the latest heavenly figure to join the cast of Paradise Lost, and will play Abdiel, the angel of death, in Alex Proyas’ adaptation of the Milton epic poem.

He joins Bradley Cooper and Ben Walker, who are set to star as Lucifer and the archangel Michael, respectively.

Written in 1667, Milton’s epic poem revolves around the fall of man and the classic battle of good vs. evil, telling along the way the story of Satan/Lucifer, the angel who tries to overthrow God, and the temptation of Adam and Eve and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden.

The project tells the story of the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, and will be crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D.Djimon Hounsou
