Rhys Wakefield (pictured below; Sanctum ) will star opposite Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Max Burkholder, Adelaide Kane, Edwin Hodge and Tony Oller in sci-fi thriller Vigilandia being helmed by writer-director James DeMonaco.

The sci-fi thriller takes place in a future where a new regime, called “New Founding Fathers of America”, seek to control an epidemic of violence and crime with an experiment called “The Cure”. The Cure is a completely hypocritical “event” where, three times a year, for 12 hours, murder is completely legal. The film is said to play like a home invasion film with a heavy political theme. It’s planned to be the first film in a post-apocalyptic franchise.
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes’ (Brad Fuller and Andrew Form) – responsible for Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes – are producing with Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, Insidious).
