‘Paranormal Activity’ Mythology Expanding Towards Fifth Film

Catfish duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman talked Paranormal Activity 4 in the newest issue of EW where they confirm that the sequel, in theaters October 19, will be a modern day take. They also reveal that they’re working on expanding the mythology into a fifth film (obviously).

I can tell you this – we’re definitely expanding on the mythology and the history of this demon,” Schulman says of PA4. “We’re really trying to get to the bottom of it!

Were told that the sequel will explore the family of witches (who live next door to a newly introduced family) in this fourth film from creator/producer Oren Peli. While inside insiders tell us Katie Featherston won’t return, the filmmaking duo refuse to clarify. I guess we’ll find out in just under two months!

No Katie? Are we seriously going to get a repeat of PA3 where they advertise all the good stuff and it isn’t in the film itself? I really hope not.

      ThunderDragoon, i agree 10000%!

I know a fifth film was inevitable, but I was kinda hoping they would rap this story up and move on to something else. The first film was almost perfect IMO, but this whole “building mythology” thing consists of throwing information at us in the final fifteen minutes.

I agree with Aaron…the first film was great, however, now with no Katie I calling this one LAME!

How much of this story was caught on tape?!

I laughed hysterically watching the trailer for this when I saw the girl switch on her camera and get into bed. Apparently everybody that has anything to do with this family records their whole life. PA5 third act twist, the ghosts are making them record, you will die in seven days.

Aaron, LOL. totally! lol. i wonder if the ghosts make them record….EVERYTHING…..cough…..yeah……

Soon to come, the adult film spin-off “Paranormal Jacktivity: The Lost Tapes”. Lol.

LOL!!! i demand to see that movie!!! LOL.

I haven’t been a big fan of the Paranormal films. Besides a fantastic ending, the first one bored me to tears. PA 2 was okay at best, and IMO, third film was easily the best in the series. Still, I wasn’t too crazy about it.

One thing I will give the PA films credit for, you ARE guaranteed to see one hell of an unforgettable ending.

But story wise, it just feels like they’re giving audiences the runaround. I enjoyed some of the third film, but the entire movie just felt like one long flashback, and we only learned a few new details.

Hopefully, the fourth film will involve more major reveals.
