‘Godzilla’ Will Roar Again Summer 2014!

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Godzilla will stomp into theaters May 16, 2014.

Gareth Edwards (Monsters) is getting behind the camera for the Legendary Pictures feature that was teased at the San Diego Comic-Con this past July (read a description of the footage shown inside).

Making his first appearance in 1954 (Gojira) Godzilla is a giant monster that lives in the sea that comes from the ocean to feed on mankind.

Here’s a description of the footage shown at the SDCC: “A city decimated. Completely destroyed. The camera pans by the wreckage of a train and the distant voice of J. Robert Oppenheimer (father of the atomic bomb) is heard reading from the Bhagavad Gita – “Now, I am become death”. Dust everywhere. Cars crushed. Holes in sky scrapers.

We then see a giant centipede like creature with many arms and legs smoldering. (You know what that means? Monster battles!) The city appears dead as a door nail. Then blackness. THE ROAR. As in THE roar. Huge Bass drop. Raymond Burr finishes his famous speech. Dust…then an arm… a hand… with claws. Pan up… holy shit… the fins. The head. Godzilla. As we know him. The real f-cking Godzilla. He roars again.

Fade to GODZILLA! With Red Japanese title behind it!

awesome. cant wait. the only Godzilla film that I remember being released in theaters is Godzilla 2000. and no I dont count the 1998 film either yet I personally think the tv cartoon series was far superior. (does anyone else think that Roland Emmerich makes better tv shows than films?)

I have seen a lot of the Godzilla films and I personally tend to love the Heisei films. on that note , now that we are getting Godzilla Vs Megalon by Media Blasters and Godzilla Vs Biollante from Echo Bridge Entertainment , now all we need to push forward for a dvd/blu-ray release now is both Godzilla 1985 & Rebirth Of Mothra 3.

I am extremely glad that Godzilla is getting a far better treatment for a live action film. if it does well , I hope we can have a new franchise with classic monsters returning and new monsters to introduce. I hope it does well.

not if you have patience. I am still waiting on other films that will be released in the next 3 years like Mortal Kombat , Tron 3 , Jurassic Park 4 , Marvel’s Venom , X-Men Days of Future Past , The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , Dinosaurs Vs Aliens , and many more. if there is one of many films that I personally want to return to the big screens , one of them is definately Spawn.

    Hmmm… sounds pretty dumb.

It would be perfect to get this into production since Japan is still reeling from typhoon damage, cheap, real sets.
