‘The Collection’ Trailer Is Here… And It’ll Make You Scream “OMFG!”

Not since Dark Castle’s horrid 2002 Ghost Ship have we seen such a wonderful massacre.

LD Entertainment has just premiered the first trailer for The Collection, the sequel to Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s slasher The Collector opening in theaters November 30th, 2012. The first scene will literally have you screaming “OMFG!” I’m insanely jealous of the Fantastic Fest attendees who get to enjoy the World Premiere this coming week…

When Elena’s (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. The Collector kidnaps and transports her to an abandoned hotel he’s transformed into his own private maze of torture and death. Upon learning of his daughter’s disappearance, Elena’s wealthy father (Christopher McDonald) hires a group of mercenaries to retrieve her from the vicious grips of The Collector. These mercenaries coerce Arkin (Josh Stewart), the only man to have escaped the wrath of this heinous monster, to lead them through thegruesome labyrinth. Now, Arkin finds himself fighting for his own life in order to save Elena.

The Collection, directed by Marcus Dunstan and written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, stars Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), and Christopher McDonald (Requiem for a Dream).

Get ready for another gory blast from the minds of four Saw films, the Feast franchise and even Guillermo del Toro’s forthcoming Pacific Rim!

  • anthonyd1

Now that’s how you do a sequel. Looks insane

  • drmb1990

looks awesome, but I guess they scrapped the 3D?

  • Rae1031

I saw the first one in the theater and while i was impressed with the gore, the story didn’t add up and there really wasn’t much to go on in terms of the Collector himself. It always bugged the shit out of me so I’m interested to see what they bring with this one

  • K-Dogg

I have to admit, I just HATED the original, this looks better. Characters were so freaking stupid in original.

  • EvilHead1981

I agree, it looks better. I have to say, visually, it’s different. If you seen the original, it’s one of those movies that utilized the “blue/yellow” filter trend that really big throughout the 00s. Look at the trailer and you can understand what I mean:

There seems to be a new movement where Hollywood is growing out of that style and is utilizing color over filter. It’s almost like a play on Argento’s earlier style, which utilized colored like in natural setting rather than colored filter over natural light/setting. I always respected the choice to utilize full color more than either going the cheap filter route. Life is a world of full and vibrant colors, why not choose to capture that. That’s reality in it’s pure essence. Video games, for the most part, have also been relying too much on muted colors, lots of browns and such. As of recent, a lot of game companies have been shying away from that, which gave rise to the funny joke “Finally, HD gaming is entering it’s full color phases!”, which is like a jab at how early tv was B&w and eventually entered color. Same with movies. HD hit and almost everybody had a hardon for overly filtered blue, yellow and sepia toned movies. But video games and movies, you’re starting to see more and more pull out of that mindset. More and more studios saying, “Hey, we can pull off a wide array of colors and make really vibrant looking movies/games, crisp and clear! Let’s do it!!”. I, personally, say, “Bring it on. It’s about damn time!!”.

Because there’s no pretentious “slasher fodder idiot family” like the first one(man, those characters were the most “garden variety” horror idiots ever, human equivalent of lemmings, like they WANTED to die), and it seems like they toss you into the action early on, this actually might be superior to the first one. I still have my doubts, though. I didn’t care for Dunstan and Melton’s other movies(Feast series sucks), and their Saw movies are alright(probably their best movies, IMO).

I agree with you so much in regards to the color of film. I think the Saw flicks and MTV style editing really took a hold on the horror genre for too long. I’m a huge Argento fan and I am loving this return to bright flourishes of color. That was the first thing I noticed in the trailer actually. 🙂

  • Grime

I hated The Collector, but this looks ok.

  • Aaron Emery

I’m really excited for this! I really dug the first one & this looks like a well mad sequel. Looks like some good ones coming in the next couple months; Dredd 3D, Sinister, PA4, The Bay, Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 (I kid, I kid).

    • djblack1313

Aaron, LOL! i’m really excited for THE BAY & DREDD (and i am ashamed to admit, i’m going to see BREAKING DAWN Pt.2 (as djblack1313 runs out of the room in shame! lol).

      • Aaron Emery

Not gunna lie I saw Part 1 in the theater last year, and actually found it somewhat tolerable. My niece is obsessed with those movies so I’m sure I will be seeing Part 2 as well.

  • woodchuck

I caught The Collector in the theater when it played and it was way better than I expected, this sequel looks amazing! I like that it’s actually a dude squaring off against the killer man to man instead of the horribly played out “survivor girl” scenario, it adds more of an action element to an already awesome horror story.

doesn’t the final product (in the poster) remind anyone of the Ice Truck Killer’s work on DEXTER?

  • xAshleyMariex

This looks so awsome! Hopefully this is a sequel that won’t be a let down
and i would like to see some clubbers getting killed lol

  • ThunderDragoon

    Awesome. Can’t wait.

  • MakeThisAMovies

This looks like one of those really cool flicks that would have gone straight to video in the early 90’s. The kind that took a page from the Aliens handbook and had a bunch of characters trapped in a building with lots of action, blood, and suspense. I’m excited for this more now than I was before.

  • Taboo

Ehh this looks pretty decent looking.

  • mikeknowskarate

  • Yes, please! Very excited!

  • marioncrane

Looks amazing! Normally not the biggest slasher/torture movie fan, but I loved ‘The Collector’… hope this one is even better. And Arkin is sorta hot..hehe

  • niceguyeddie1971

What I like about the killer is how he moves…his movements are like a predators. Kind of like the species he collects. Great research on the writer’s part and the director delivering it. Looks like a winner.
