Walter Hill Is To Figure Out ‘What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?’ All Over Again

Director Walter Hill (48 Hours, The Warriors, Bullet To The Head) will be helming a remake of What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? for Lakeshore Entertainment, per Variety. He’ll be directing from his own script (which has been adapted from the original novel by Henry Farrell).

The film “revolves around a decaying Hollywood mansion where Jane Hudson, a former child star, and her sister Blanche, a movie queen from the 30′s are forced into retirement after a crippling accident.” The original 1962 thriller starred Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

No word on casting or a release date yet, but stay tuned!

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this. I love the original, both Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were magnificent. Fingers crossed.

(Obvious) fan of the original, but its going to be ALL about the casting for a remake. You need two women who aren’t afraid to be ugly on the screen – might be too tall an order for modern day Hollywood…

The original is a complete masterpiece! A remake will not work. The reason the original worked so well is because Bette Davis and Joan Crawford weren’t acting! They actually did despise eachother. Unless you can get two old dames who hate each other (maybe Maggie Smith and Shirley Maclaine from Downton) than this won’t work. Although, it might inspire more people to see the original. It’s too under-rated!

    lame!
