Here’s The Teaser For The ‘Carrie’ Remake!!!

Sony held their NYCC panel over the weekend, during which they debuted the teaser for Carrie, their reboot starring Chloë Grace Moretz as the title character. And now? Now we have that teaser! And it looks surprisingly large in scope, actually. It primarily features voiceover amongst shots of an absolutely destroyed town, which kind of backs up the filmmakers’ promise that this is based more on the book than the DePalma film. In the book the town is almost completely destroyed. Maybe in the next one we’ll get more carnage – though this does feature a bloodied up Carrie (with the colors muted for green band trailer compatibility). You rating hounds don’t need to worry though, they’ve assured us that the film is R-Rated.

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.” Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of Carrie earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

Carrie is in theaters March 15, 2013. Head inside for the footage!

not bad!! this will never be better than De Palma’s film but it could be a worthy remake!

  • al343806

Simple, yet effective. Definitely pumped to see this in theaters! A remake that I’m not actually too upset about. I love the original Carrie (my family still does the “they’re all gonna laugh at you!” bit regularly), but I’m totally psyched to see both Moore and Moretz tackle these two iconic horror characters. I’d like to see more of the two of them in future trailers. Obviously you cannot avoid showing their characters, I just really want to see them in these two roles.

  • thebogeymaniscoming

Of course it will never be the same as De Palma’s film. De Palma’s film is drastically different than the novel. If this version is closer to the novel and with a heavyweight cast including Chloe and Julianne Moore, I’m afraid to say it but I think I’ll like this version better.

  • ok… now show the evil dead sneak peak!!!!

  • Lauren Taylor

That little girl can act. Hopefully they’ve given her a good movie.

    • EvilHead1981

Well, she’s not little anymore. I do think they should’ve held out with the NOES reboot just so they could cast her as Nancy. She would’ve been a way less wooden Nancy than Rooney Mara. Hell, if they ever make a sequel to the reboot(or just go balls to the wall and reboot it again with, maybe, a director who has more respect for the franchise, cast Chloe as Nancy).

      • divisionbell

Aside from a unique premise bak in the day, the original NOES was a terrible film. Remake was actually better (than the original…3rd was the best).

    • summerann1

i hope so too ,i hope there is some sign effectin the new movie

  • mav07

With today’s amount of cyber bullying, this movie definitely has the potential to make a huge impact. Hopefully they actually remade it and not did the whole “we want to pay tribute to the original” bullshit. A remake is exactly that, and it should have the balls to say “Fuck the original, this is my version”

  • WalkingDeadGuy

Good teaser, I’m glad they didn’t give us all the goods this early on.

  • djblack1313

this teaser is definitely creepy, atmospheric and effective. definitely.

  • Zombie-Killa

Fucking awesome. And this is just the teaser, can’t wait until the full trailer drops.

Hoping for a successful Carrie remake. Moretz could use the boost, especially after Hick and Dark Shadows.

  • Aaron Emery

As sir djblack1313 stated at the top “this will never be better than De Palmas film”! BUT I’m trying to look at it more along the lines of an adaptation from a novel rather than a remake of a classic film. Chloë is an amazing young actress and I have faith that she will bring her all to this character, also it seems Kimberly Pierce isn’t worried about watering down the material for a pg13 rating/ teen movie. If the whole film has the atmosphere and darkness as this teaser it’s sure to be a win.

    • djblack1313

thanx Aaron! i’ve never been called Sir before but i like it! 🙂

  • Taboo

Hell yes! I’m so excited for this now. Love the fact that it’s Chloë playing Carrie too, perfect.

  • staindFAN

Nice! Chloe will knock this out of the park. I can’t wait to check this out!

  • tHeShApE89

They’re All Gonna Laugh At You!!!!!

  • Nothing333

This gets a big meh from me. I’m not a fan of remakes and this is the second remake if you count the awful sequel. I could care less about Chloe Moretz. This looks so similar to the original it seems pointless. Horror is officially a dying genre on the big screen.

  • FreddyKrueger13

Now that is a teaser! I’m pumped, bring on the actual trailer!

  • evenscarier

Very effective, I’m actually excited for this remake.

  • Marty McFly

Interesting. I love Chloe. This should be good. I hate people who don’t give remakes a chance, don’t judge the movie until you’ve seen it.

  • sqitso

I am always open to remakes, being a write myself “though not a good one ;)”. I enjoy certain writer/director creativity when they change certain things. Rob Zombie’s view of Halloween was “interesting”. Different from the original enough to make you not think you have seen it before. Yet, I hated the remake of Chainsaw Massacre because they changed Leatherface from a transvestite to some guy with a diseased face that made him ugly? Horrible idea and destroyed the original concept. Carry has me intrigued because it looks like it is placed in present day. When the original carry came out we didn’t have cell phones, texting and the internet. So this makes for an interesting addition to the concept of ways she could be abused by other kids. Though sometimes moving remakes from their original timeframe to the present doesn’t work. Just my opinions.

  • actually just a quick fyi.. this is the THIRD remake actually.

The original, the semi sequel/remake The Rage (even though it claimed to be Carrie 2). The main chick as I recall wasn’t named Carrie and only had the tenuous link of Sue Snell showing up.. then there was a tv movie/backdoor tv pilot with Angela Bettis in the role. As I recall the reviews were not quite so glowing there either. But some have said its closer to the original book.

I am kind of torn on this one. I agree with Mav, and shared the trailer earlier today.. and echoed his comment that a film made now would have ALOT more to say on the idea of bullying, and cyberbullying which was unheard of during the original time (or even.. barely in the sequel time frame). So there is room for some interesting touches to be brought in.. as long as they not just cast the leads well, but the villains as well.. Sue and Chris will be pivotal.. not quite sold on Judy Greer as the coach though.

      @Justin McGill

The Rage: Carrie 2 established that Carrie’s father carried the gene that caused telekinesis. He fathered two children one with Margaret White and the other with Rachel’s (main character mother. The movie takes place in the same town as the first and shows where the old high school was along with having Sue be a guidance counselor.

She bites it with a fire poker through the eye.

  • VirulentViper

I’m interested in this, dunno if I’ll be running to theaters to see it but I’m interested nonetheless.

  • Jadama

The original film was faithful enough but wasn’t what it could be due to funding and effects at that time. The TV remake was a step in the right direction but watered down because it’s on TV. Now I think they’ve got it right! I’m excited!!!

  • Milk

So many remakes. The teaser looks alright. Funny that they would use such a beautiful young actress as somebody that is bullied. Are the kids picking on her because she is so gorgeous?

  • ThunderDragoon

    I’m so excited for this.
