So, the latest Limp Bizkit song/video, “Lightz”, has been “leaked” onto YouTube (looks mighty clean and high quality to me…). Strangely, the song is labelled as “City Of Angels” on the video. The song supposedly comes from the band’s upcoming album Stampede Of The Disco Elephants, which will be released via Lil Wayne‘s label Cash Money Records (what a god awful name).
Look, stylistically, the video is okay at points. Wes, as always, has a really unique and fascinating costume and the gasmask/BDSM girls are pretty awesome looking. But what’s with DJ Lethal picking up his equipment and turning it over and over, as though he’s going, “What the fu…GUYS! What the hell does this thing do? I can’t remember!”
Now, surprise of surprises, the song is awful. Not just awful, but really, truly terrible, vile, crime-against-humanity type awful. It’s supposed to be one of those “feel good” songs, at least in the melody. It’s one of those songs that you could’ve sworn you’ve heard a million times before and not even once was it good. They need to get the anger they had in “Boiler” back and then I’ll be hooked.
Check out the video below and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
