Watch The Giallo-esque Opening Titles For ‘Berberian Sound Studio’

A quasi-genre film that gained a lot of steam out of Toronto before slamming down to Earth at Fantastic Fest Peter is Strickland’s Berberian Sound Studio, starring Toby Jones and Tonia Sotiropoulou. I saw the movie. I hated it.

Acquired out of the fests by IFC Films, the pic is “Set in 1976: Gilderoy is hired to orchestrate the sound mix for the latest film by Italian horror maestro, Santini. As time and realities shift, Gilderoy is lost in a spiral of sonic and personal mayhem, and has to confront his own demons in order to stay afloat.

This morning the giallo-esque opening title sequence was discovered and thus posted right here.

Thanks to your review, I skipped this at FF and saw Errors of the Human Body instead. Best decision ever.

Soundtrack done with textures and vocals from the late Trish Keenan, of Broadcast. If you haven’t checked their back catalog on WARP records, and you love you some 60s psychedelia + 90s Brit electronica, you will be very happy at what you hear.

I have to say that I can not wait for this. I think it all depends on what one likes in a horror film or in the genre itself. Personally, I HATED V/H/S. Sorry, but I thought it was just trying way to hard. Most are in love with it. To each his own. As the above noted, fans of Broadcast and the work of designer Julian House probably will love it.
