Sam Raimi Gets Behind Young Adult Geren Franchise ‘Angelfall’
Good Universe and Sam Raimi are teaming up to develop an adaptation of post-apocalyptic angel-themed YA book titled Angelfall, reports THR.
“The story is set weeks after angels of the apocalypse wreak revenge against mannkind for the killing of Archangel Gabriel. When 17-year-old Penryn tries and fails to escort her wheelchair-bound sister and their mother to safety, she teams up with a handsome young angel with clipped wings, braving evil seraphs, human gangs and cannibals in order to find her sister.”
The company, Raimi and his producing partner Robert Tapert have picked up the movie rights to the Susan Ee penned tome and the series, Penryn & the End of Days. Raimi will produce with Tapert.
“Angelfall” was released Aug. 28 by Amazon’s own book imprint Amazon Children’s Publishing but already generated some heat when it was a self-published e-book. It was a finalist for the 2011 Cybils Awards for Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction, and ranked #1 on Good Reads’ Best Independent Novels.
