Magnet Releasing officially announced yesterday that The ABCs of Death will hit various On Demand platforms on January 31 with a limited theatrical run set for March 8.

This evening Yahoo! premiered the red band trailer that’s jam-packed with pulse-pounding imagery that will have you guys wetting yourselves. Must see genre chaos is on the horizon!

Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABCs of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children’s educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death.

I don’t know about this; I mean, the concept is certainly intriguing, but with 26 directors, each segment would be at most
5 minutes, and that’s with a 2 hour film. Considering that most productions rarely exceed 1.5 hours, it’s reduced to a little over 3 minutes. How is this going to work?

eh, madly excited by the idea but it looked a little sketchy to me.

I hope it’ll mostly be good. It looks fun enough.

OMFG this is going to be bat shit insane

Saw it. Half of it’s good (X and Q were the most memorable), but a lot of them were so shockingly awful. I was stunned at how lackluster a lot of them were, especially ones coming from such great (?) filmmakers. Half of them pocketed the money. I will say ABC’s does a good job of showing talent without their big, talented crews and budgets protecting their reputation.

Well at least we know the sequel will be called 123′s. Because bad things come in 3′s. AhHaHaHaHa!(Vincent Price laugh)

I’m pretty excited about this. A few of the segments in the trailer looked ridiculous and really well-shot.

What I saw that Magnet was playing for this movie at New York Comic Con looked absolutely crazy. It looks like it’ll be a fun movie, the trailer has some really cool things in it too!
