The viral campaign for Guillermo del Toro’s giant robot/monster movie Pacific Rim launched this morning with a video that tested the “Kaiju Emergency Alert System” (included below) as well as a leaked memo from the Pan Pacific Defense Corps official website.
Does that mean they’re done for the day? NOPE! They’ve just released a viral video of a news broadcast detailing a monstrous Kaiju attack on San Francisco. This isn’t footage from the film or anything, but it’s cool as hell and you can get a glimpse of the Kaiju monster about 47 seconds in! The broadcaster describes the creature as being over 300 feet tall. And, courtesy of Wired, we also have a blueprint of one of the human-piloted Jaeger robots (this particular design is for the Gipsy Danger mecha).
In theaters July 12, “Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.” Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff and Brad William Henke all star.
Head inside for the new video, the blueprint and the “Kaiju Emergency Alert” viral from earlier in the day.
