Official ‘[REC] 4 Apocalypse’ Teaser Trailer Infects The Web!

Filmax International has unveiled the first official teaser trailer (different than the pre-AFM one) for [REC] 4 Apocalypse, the fourth and final installment of the [REC] series to be directed by franchise co-creator Jaume Balaguero. I can only hope that Balaguero returns to the found footage trope with this fourth and final entry

[REC] 4 Apocalypse, produced by Julio Fernandez for Filmax, will be shot early next year.

Angela Vidal, the young television reporter who entered the building with the fireman, manages to make it out alive. But what the soldiers don’t know is that she carries the seed of the strange infection.

She is to be taken to a provisional quarantine facility, a high-security installation where she will have to stay in isolation for several days. An old oil tanker, miles off shore and surrounded by water on all sides, has been especially equipped for the quarantine.

Haven’t managed to see yet Rec 3 although I have heard that it is either awesome or awful. Rec 1 and particularly 2 remain some of the scariest films I have ever seen. Shame these do not get played in the cinemas here in UK :(I will be first to line up in the local cinemas!

    • Jordan

Rec 3 was okay. There are bits and pieces of shaky cam. It also has a different storyline as far as a new setting and people. But honestly without the shaky cam(which in my opinion made the first two films so scary) it is really just a tad scary and not as edge of your seat as the first two, but it is still likeable.

  • Kroork

Wanna see this really bad. Loved the first, loooved the second , and liked the third.

  • Seal_Clubber

REC 1 was great – 2 and 3 were horrible! Unless this one gets great reviews I think I will pass on it.

    • VampireJack

Gotta disagree with you about pt 2 being horrible, I actually thought it was “possibly” better than the original (which itself was great). Pt3 was a bit of a letdown, but had enough for me to buy it and rewatch it eventually.

      • Seal_Clubber

I think the 2nd one could have worked well as a seperate, stand-alone movie. However, they took the viral zombie storyline from the first one and twisted it into a religous infection instead. Seemed contrived, like they needed a REC2 and had this other plot line sitting around, and descided to shoe-horn it in.

  • LaurenTaylor

    If Part 4 is anything like 1 & 2, I’m in. I didn’t go for 3. Too campy.

    • Jordan

Agreed. I think that if they stayed with the shaky cam, part 3 could’ve been better.

  • djblack1313

don’t get me wrong, i’m VERY excited for REC 4 (which they haven’t even started filming yet) but this “teaser” is lame because it’s footage from the 1st 2 films. i’d rather a teaser that has even one frame of newly shot footage.

Mr.D, it’s already been confirmed and double confirmed it’s going to be shot traditionally (not hand held found footage shaky cams). it’s also a direct sequel to REC 2 (according to the director)!! REC 3 was 100% Paco Plaza’s project and REC 4 will be 100% Jaume Balaguero’s project. so it will be different-ish from REC 3 but again, it’s been confirmed that this will not be found footage/shaky cam. THANK GOD! 🙂

@djblack1313 – if you check out the 1 minute mark I think the insertion of the bug into her throat wasn’t in the original – or at least not that I remember…

      • djblack1313

BabyJaneHudson, that part with the worm/parasite thing was in REC 2. 🙂

there’s not one frame of new footage in this since they haven’t started filming yet. just sayin’. 🙂

        • BabyJaneHudson

Ah – I didn’t watch part 2, my bad. Thanks!

  • coldblood

    Fuck it!

  • VampireJack

@doomas10 – Rec 1,2 and 3 “were” shown at UK cinemas, but only for a limited time and limited release.

Personally I’ve enjoyed the trilogy so far (Rec 3 was a little bit of a let down, and I think they showed “too much” of the demons (the mirrors) but it was still decent enough. It was really the Army Of Darkness part of the trilogy, in that it was pretty good but followed 2 AWESOME movies) so I can’t wait for the final installment.

    • VampireJack

Damnit, why didn’t I just reply to Doomas10’s original post!
I’m a bit blonde when I’ve gone all day without food…
      off to get some chili!

  • VampireJack

Now I’m replying to myself as if anyone cares what I write.
I need a new girlfriend. Pulse “not” necessary.

    • djblack1313

      VampireJack, LOL. 🙂

      • VampireJack

I enjoyed the chili btw – it had lentils in it!

        • Canucklehead

          Mmmmmmmm Chili

  • GothicPanda

I liked them all. I kind of wish make video game out these movies most the first and fourth one, where you can play Angela Vidal in the game or something like that.

  • markajacoby

My sincere hope is that 4 is a return to the truly phenomenal filmmaking of 1 and 2. 3 was nothing less than a piece of crap that completely wasted 85 minutes of my life! I knew from the moment I saw the teaser or 3 that I was going to be disappointed, but still I held out hope and in the end it was worse than I could have imagined. Will hold judgement, but PLEASE, let it be better.

    • DesignDeath

What the fuck is this blasphemy? smh.
      I will pray for you.

  • ThunderDragoon

I loved the first 2. The 3rd was terrible. Since this picks up from part 2, I’m extremely excited.

  • viking1983

rec 1+2 kicked arse and were scary, rec 3 was amazing and a good parody of horror in general, it was the evil dead 2 of the rec series, rec 4 should be more like rec 1+2 and get back to the scares

  • John Marrone

Am I the only one slightly disappointed that this is going to take place on an oil rig in the ocean? After 3 I pictured REC4 to be more like the end of DEMONS – all out citywide panic. Damn…

  • violentdope

Rec was the bast one.Didnt care for 2.Rec 3 I liked cuz they got rid of the shaky cam when the demons show up.Lookin forward to rec 4 but that trailer was wack.

  • Jordan

I am glad they are returning back to the storyline of the first two. The third one seemed a but random.
