German industrial metal band Rammstein has released a music video for “Mein Herz Brennt” that is incredibly eerie and unsettling. First of all, the song is not the original one that we’re used to hearing from the album Mutter. Rather, it’s a totally stripped down version that is just singer Till Lindemann hauntingly singing over a piano. As for the video, a filthy, dress-wearing Lindemann walks around a decrepit bath room (one that looks very much like the one in the blood bath scene in Hostel 2). He often smiles into the camera, showing disgusting, stained teeth, but the smile is full of sadness, his eyes wet with unshed tears. Check it all out in the video below.
The single is being released as a CD, digital download and 7″ vinyl and includes, besides the “Piano Version” of “Mein Herz brennt”, four B sides, one of them being the previously unreleased track “Gib mir Deine Augen”.
The video will be a part of the Videos 1995-2012 collection, which is coming out Jan. 15th, 2013 in the States. You can find more information on that boxset here.
