Red Band Trailer For Horror Spoof ‘A Haunted House’

In theaters January 11 from Open Road Films is Michael Tiddes’ A Haunted House, co-written by and starring Marlon Wayans. Also starring Cedric The Entertainer, David Koechner, Nick Swardson and Essence Atkins, below we’ve added the new red band trailer that delivers more haunting laughs.

In the Wayans family tradition of successful movies like Scary Movie 1 & 2, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and, most recently, Dance Flick, Marlon Wayans co-wrote the script for A Haunted House, along with Rick Alvarez, who has produced several Wayans family movies.

In an outrageous send up of the Paranormal Activity movies, The Devil Inside and other “found footage” movies, A Haunted House features young couple Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins) who have just moved in to their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted, it’s Malcolm’s girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship… or, more importantly, his sex life.

Usually, a red band trailer would persuade me to see a movie more, but not this one. It’s too over the top, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m sensing too many similarities to the Scary Movie films. The first two were OKAY, but 3 & 4 were just fucking awful.

So yeah, I enjoyed the green band trailer more than this red band trailer, and before this trailer I was actually excited for the movie, and I WANTED to see it. Now, I’m not so sure.

    • I knew from the start that this was like a relative to the Scary Movie. After all, Scary Movie is like the godfather of these films. I’m not turning it down, but I’m not so crazy about it either.

I actually thought the first couple jokes were all right. It definitely looks over the top, but I feel like that’s expected nowadays with the parodies for better or worse.

      I’ll give it a shot.
