Get Addicted To ‘APP,’ A Movie That Interacts With YOUR Phone!

app

Technology in films are a tough combination. If done incorrectly, it’ll come off astoundingly cheesy. The trailer for the Dutch APP in on thin ice, feeling a bit like a T-Mobile commercial. BUT, what makes this cool is that this movie interacts directly with the audience! According to Thompson On Hollywood, APP will “be the first film in the world to synchronize a parallel storyline via app content to be accessed while in the movie theater.” WOW.

In the thriller APP, Anna (Hannah Hoekstra), a young student, gets caught up in her own virtual world. She is addicted to apps, social media and her smartphone. One day Anna discovers a mysterious new app on her phone. It has the answer to every question. Not just scientific questions, but also about her personal life and her friends. When the app starts sending her cryptic texts and codes connected to the sudden and strange deaths of people around her, it becomes evident that it is not just a handy app.

This is actually pretty awesome and I can only hope someone gets this is U.S. theaters.

Awful, awful, awful idea. Why the hell would you give people an excuse and a reason to be on their phone in a movie theater while you’re watching the movie?

    Worst idea ever.

@Kroork well lets try this. Lets it a 30 min movie and play it 3 times. Why 3 times you say… well lets say with said app we can decide what happens in the movie and see different out comes. They tried this type of thing back in 1994/1995 with joysticks connected to the chair with a movie called Mr. Payback: An Interactive Movie. It is happening now were we have apps that interact with the blurays we watch.

Yeah its not a new idea, it seems that way though. It will be a better idea for home systems like on dvd players and blu rays. It almost seems like a good idea for theatres.
