5 New Clips Spruce Up ‘A Haunted House’!

In theaters January 11 from Open Road Films is Michael Tiddes’ A Haunted House, co-written by and starring Marlon Wayans. Also starring Cedric The Entertainer, David Koechner, Nick Swardson and Essence Atkins. In the Wayans family tradition of successful movies like Scary Movie 1 & 2, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and, most recently, Dance Flick, Marlon Wayans co-wrote the script for A Haunted House, along with Rick Alvarez, who has produced several Wayans family movies.

In an outrageous send up of the Paranormal Activity movies, The Devil Inside and other “found footage” movies, A Haunted House features young couple Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins) who have just moved in to their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted, it’s Malcolm’s girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship… or, more importantly, his sex life.

And now we have five new snippets from the film! If you like what you see here, be sure to check back this week for my interviews with the cast. Head inside to check out the clips!

I don’t care what anyone says bout this film I’ll see it opening weekend or try to.

I don’t know this looks about as equally as funny as Scary Movie 5. Neither of them look hilarious like the first two Scary Movie’s by any means. The only advantage SM5 has is a lead that will attract a lot of teens.

When I saw the trailer for this one I was like meh, but seeing the clips I’m pretty show I will save the money instead of watching it. The jokes look kinda dumb, as if the film was written by a grade six student.

  • The trailer looks a lot funnier than all this clips combined, which is not a good sign for a movie, considering the trailer usually includes the best part, is heavily edited and cut, etc. While the clips are actual parts of the movie (maybe just slightly altered). It seems to me that it’ll be more along the lines of “Dance Flick” than “Scary Movie” when it comes to the quality of the humor. What I mean is, most of the jokes are hit-and-miss, leaning more towards the miss side, and the jokes being scattershot. I’m pretty skeptical about this, so it might be a rental. Man, this year is starting off shitty. A poorly reviewed Chainsaw sequel and now (what appears to be) a lazy spoof movie. Hopefully “Mama” paves the January movie month into something good.

I dunno.. when I first saw the trailers for this movie I definitely wanted to see it, especially since I’m a big Wayans fan and I loved Scary Movie 1 and 2. After seeing these ridiculously unfunny clips, I might not even bother seeing this at all…

So far only the second clip made me laugh, still gonna try to see it with some friends though.
