[Random Cool] ‘Bloodsport’ Edited Into “Mortal Kombat” Video Game!

Picture 7

This is my new favorite video, especially because it reeks of irony.

It’s a little known fact that the backstory to the infamous “Mortal Kombat” was to be a video game adaptation of Newt Arnold’s 1988 classic Bloodsport.

The character of Johnny Cage was inspired by Frank Dux, played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the violent martial arts film.

So when I saw the following YouTube mash-up, I lost my shit. YouTube user “VanDammeFan2009″ created a “Mortal Kombat” spoof in which he edits in action footage from Bloodsport into the game. Here’s his description: “Van Damme plays Johnny Cage, an ego driven Hollywood superstar who decides to test his fighting skills in the deadly tournament know as Mortal Kombat!

It’s amazing, especially if you’re as big of a Bloodport fan as I am. “You break my record, now I break you.”

Wow and hell yeah that was awesome! That brought back some good memories! Johnny Cage was obviously based on Jean-Claude Van Damn but Mortal Kombat was mainly based on Bruce Lee’s last film “Enter The Dragon”. The differences are obvious to the experienced eye. Whoever did this video must have worked on it for a long time because that was a lot of detail! And thank you for bringing this to our attention Bloody-Disgusting!

Easily one of the best things on the internet. I can’t even count how many times I watched Bloodsport when I was a kid.
