The 8th Season of “Dexter” will premiere on Sunday, June 30th. That’s a full three months earlier than last year’s premiere (Season 7 premiered at the end of September). Speaking at the TCA Conference, Showtime President David Nevins said, “[Season 8] is the likely endpoint, but I’m leaving open the possibility that plans could change [...] I think there’s a very clear trajectory now of where they’re going. I think it’s going to help to write with that endgame in mind. I’ve been pushing to shake up the formula a little bit. I think there should be fundamentally different dynamics now.” Notice that he didn’t commit to it ending? He also offered the following quote, “ “Dexter” for Showtime is what Batman is to Warner Bros., it is a cornerstone franchise.” Is there a Season 9 in the cards? If 8 makes money, then I’d say yes.

AMC’s The Walking Dead returns in February to finish up its third season and will kick things off with 03.09 “The Suicide King”.

In the season’s back half, “With his group in tatters, his sanity in question, and his own son questioning his every move, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) must somehow pull everyone together to face their greatest challenge — the Governor (David Morrissey). In order to survive, he must risk everything, including the group’s very humanity.

    Please stop at 8!

I’m torn on that… I just pretend 5 and 6 never happened lol. Season 7 was splendid to me, it had nearly no low points in comparison to the previous seasons. IF and ONLY IF season 8 is about Dexter getting revealed and going on the run, then 9 is about the hunt for Dexter and his downfall? So be it. But only IF thats IT. Otherwise I DO NOT want two more fucking seasons of ‘such and such killer vs dexter’ fuck that shit.

Dr_Loomis, i agree w/ you. i’d prefer them to end at 8 but if most/many fans really want the show to keep going on i don’t begrudge them having their show. i’d probably stop watching after this upcoming season 8. the show IMO is running on fumes. season 7 was pretty decent-ish (BIG improvement over the abysmal season 6!) though.

I loved last season EXCEPT for the ending. So with that ending in mind, I wouldn’t mind a season 9. They absolutely have to stop with season 9, though. Two more seasons coming up is already enough, having a season 10 would be jumping the shark.

The thing I’d miss the most is Debra. If they will end it with 8 or 9 they should have Debra kill Dexter. It blows that I won’t get to see her again after, but she would remain remembered for all my existence.

    Oh, I’ll miss Masuka too.

Armand DC, i feel the same way! Deb/Jennifer Carpenter is awesome! she’s my favorite on the show and i love the character so much. i DO hate with a passion what season 6′s writers did to this fully well written, established character by having Deb have romantic feelings for Dex but other than that Deb rules!

I don’t know what to think. Season 7 was a great season and prepared me for the final one. It’s a great idea to end at 8. Thinking of season 9 seems like a drag on. But we’ll see how this season goes…

    Can’t wait for TWD too.
