Composer bear McCreary has released a video blog discussing the bluegrass instruments that he utilizes for his compositions on The Walking Dead. He explains how he sat down Oingo Boingo guitarist Steve Bartek, who utilizes a 12-string electric banjo for the score, and instructed him to pretend to be a “zombie banjo player”. You can see many of the instruments used as well as hear the effects and tones that are derived from thinking outside the box. As always, it’s fascinating to see what McCreary comes up with for one of television’s most popular show. Check it out below.
