Breaking news folks, Lionsgate is post-converting Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein for a 3-D release on September 13. I had thought the gimmicky post-converted 3-D release platform had died, but apparently it’s “still an option.”
Rob Friedman, co-chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, confirmed the conversion to 3D during an analyst call Tuesday following the release of the indie studio’s third quarter results, stated the Hollywood Reporter.
“We’re selective. We do it where we think it’s appropriate for the creative, as well as for the consumer enjoyment,” Friedman told press. Because, obviously, I, Frankenstein is going to be way more enjoyable looking like a pop-up book.
Aaron Eckhart plays Adam Frankenstein in the film based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, co-creator of Underworld. Bill Nighy, Socratis Otto, Yvonne Strahovski and Miranda Otto also star.
