Exclusive: Canadian Indie ‘Good Neighbors’ Already Being Remade

German director Stephan Rick has been attached to direct a The Good Neighbor, a remake of Jacob Tierney’s indie Good Neighbors, pictured, that starred Jay Baruchel, Anne-Marie Cadieux and Diane D’Aquila, Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned.

The quick remake is being penned by actor-turned-writer Ross Partridge (Mutual Friends), with strong interest being shown in actor Sam Rockwell (Moon, Seven Psychopaths). We’re told an offer has been made to Rockwell, although he’s yet to be attached.

The new version follows a journalist, David, who becomes close with his new neighbor, Robert. The night goes out of control when David accidentally kills a young woman. Robert is already willing to protect his new friend, and helps hides the evidence. Things get strange when Robert will stop at nothing to keep his new friend from being taken away. Creep-y.

Sorry but I don’t really get the news. The trailer is the one of the German version of the film by Stephan Rick, which is already a remake. So is Rick doing a US Remake now and they want Sam Rockwell?

Why do we even NEED an American remake of a Canadian movie? If the Canadian movie isn’t in French, there should be no problem releasing it in the U.S. To remake it JUST for the FUCKIN sake of it being an American venture is asinine. What’s next, New York remaking Hollywood movies simply because it’s a “West Coast” made movie and they want to remake it to appeal to East Coasters? Damn, the world is getting fuckin STUPID!!

I’m so confused, is the Canadian GOOD NEIGHBORS related at all to the German one featured in the trailer? If not which one is getting remade? The plot synopsis doesn’t sound like the movie I saw, I could be wrong though.
