Wanna Know What Ti West’s Eli Roth-Produced ‘The Sacrament’ Is About?!

The-Sacrament

A huge thank you to Bloody member DarkHolmes7 for tipping us off to a new interview with Eli Roth, who reveals the top secret plot of The Sacrament, the latest genre offering from horror fav Ti West (The Innkeepers, V/H/S, The House of the Devil, The Roost).

I’m now producing a film called The Sacrament that Ti West produced and directed,” Roth, producer on CBS Films’ forthcoming The Last Exorcism: Part II, tells The Guardian. “He made a terrific film called House of the Devil, and had a great idea about a found footage docu-style horror movie set it a Jonestown type cult where we watch a mass suicide begin and the filmmakers are trapped inside. It’s really, really scary.

The first still, above, took us to the Savannah, Georgia set where star AJ Bowen (The Signal, You’re Next) is on the run from something terrible. Sound like he’s on the run from cult members?

Joe Swanberg (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die, V/H/S), Kentucker Audley, Amy Seimetz (You’re Next, A Horrible Way To Die, Upstream Color) and Gene Jones also star.

That is a terrifying plot, and with how brilliant West is at building suspense, I an only imagine how much of a nail-biter this could end up being. I have high hopes, as I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker. I’m more intrigued than ever after hearing that brief synopsis.

I agree! Sounds like a great plot for him to do.

Problem is Ti is writing the movie,he’s a brilliant director but an awful writer which is pretty much why all their projects have been good but none of them reached the level of awesome for me

I haven’t really had any issues with his writing. I generally like his slow burn approach. Though inkeepers really could have used a little more.

Roth’s been doing a decent job at producing some good horror flicks, seems interesting.

Sounds like an interesting premise, at least it’s something outside the norm! I love Ti West, he has this way of making me enjoy watching close to nothing happen! The characters in THE INNKEEPERS were so well written and fun that I didn’t even want to ghost stuff to come, because I was having enough fun just watching them. Same goes for HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, I never would have thought that I could be so entertained watching some girl dance around and eat pizza by herself, but damn I was held in suspense the whole time!

Officially can’t freaking wait for this. Hopefully Fantastic Fest will book this one!

Sounds cool. Definitely excited to check it out. House of the Devil was awesome.

This really doesn’t sound that great (maybe I am still sour on the whole cult thing post-Red State). If anyone can pull it off though, its gotta be Ti West.
