Official website? What’s that?

TriStar and FilmDistrict are going 2000′s on us with their official website for Evil Dead, the Fede Alvarez-directed remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 classic that will premiere tomorrow night at the SXSW Film Festival before opening in theaters April 5.

Bloody reader ‘Keith Yambert’ tipped us off to the newly updated site that’s jam-packed with goodies ranging from Twitter skins, ringtones, previously released pics and redband trailers, all within a vitual tour of the cabin! Yambert tells us that you can enter the cabin with your Facebook account and it actually puts things like pics and Facebook posts right in the environment of the cabin AND in the Noteran Demonto! It’s absolutely AMAZING and disturbing.

The latest Book of the Dead will unleash upon stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas, and quite possibly Bruce Campbell. In it, “five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

*clicks on link* It requires a Facebook account? Well, that’s fucking stupid. Can’t wait until Facebook dies just like Myspace did.

      Couldn’t agree more.

Although I do interstand the logic; we can’t sell the movie for them so we can’t see it, isn’t web 2.0 great?

you guys i agree! i fucking hate Facebook. that being said, what this particular EVIL DEAD website does using your individual Facebook account is FUCKING COOL!!!! the site actually incorporates pictures (of you and your friends/contacts/etc) into different parts of the site on your specific computer. when you go into the basement part of the site the Necronomicon book comes up and (this freaked me out for a second because i didn’t know my Facebook pics/info would be used in the site) when turning the pages of the book i saw my Facebook profile pic AS ONE OF THE PAGES!!!! lol. i freaked out for a second before i realized what was up!!! lol.

    this website is really cool!

I thought it was kickass too! The BOOK was what caught my attention, there is one page in the book with red writing where if you watch it close before the page flips it has previous fb posts written in it. But the pics and personalization on the fridge made my hair stand up! BTW thanks for the name shout out! I have checked the ED sight about every other day, and today…it came alive!

AND the music track REALLY captures the original! I CAN”T WAIT! My wife won’t go with me on April 5th so it’s a loner movie for me….I’m a little scared (for a bunch of obvious reasons, but scared nonetheless!) and I’m 41 freakin’ years old!

hahaha “…and i’m 41 freakin’ years old!” That just made my day. I’m ridiculously excited for this movie!!!!

Fuck Facebook. Why do I have to join their bullshit to enter this website? One strike against the marketing team.

At the moment, this new feature is not working.

    • sascha henschel

Update: does not work with Safari, with Chrome it’s ok.

But, I expected a little bit more from the most terrifying movie site!
It’s ok and better than most of it’s kind, but I wished to see a complete virtual tour through the cabin before everything happens and a map of the area e.g.
Even 1 or 2 scares would be nice…

I hate to burst the bubble of everyone but social networking isn’t going anywhere. Like it or not this is how the modern world operates. We live in a world where online dating is more common-practice than meeting people at, say, a bar or something. I’m not sure I agree with it (I mostly use Facebook to offend people and keep up with old fraans) but it’s where we are at right now.
Anywho, the site is kickass and if you DO have a Facebook it’s totally worth logging in and checking that shit out. This film has a bad ass marketing team! Viral marketing usually amounts to staring really hard at a photo trying to figure out if the fucking keyhole is turned vertically or horizontally in the mirror in PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 6, or if the curtains came out before or after that particular film. This is really good stuff and I’m grateful for the people that are turning this film into the real deal. Kudo’s to Mr. Alvarez, Raimi and crew on putting all their hard work into this!

Just me who can’t seem to get the feature to work?
