Chalk this up as something I would do in a heartbeat. Apparently, Tough Love Yoga in Atlanta, GA, which is owned by Neda Draupadi Honarvar, has a class with a description that reads, “Listen to metal. Do yoga. Melt your face off in a very relaxing and healing way.” Sold. I’m in. Who’s with me?
Honarvar explains that this came about because, “…some of her male friends said they would only try yoga if metal music played during class.” She called their bluff and offered metal yoga classes with each class focusing on a single artist’s music, such as Neurosis, Isis, or Metallica.
Classes are $10 to drop-in and are held at the Tough Love Yoga facility on Dekalb Avenue, next to Radial Cafe. A full article chronicling a man’s experience in her class can be found here.
