[TV] It’s Official! Expect Plenty Of Witchy WTF Moments From “American Horror Story: Coven”!

Last night at Paleyfest creator Ryan Murphy announced that “American Horror Story: Season 3” is now called “American Horror Story: Coven”. I’m sure we can expect plenty of the narrative non-sequiters we’ve come to expect along with lots of weird sexuality and general batshittery. And I’m stoked!!!

The only thing I’m still curious about it the time period, when does the main storyline take place? I’m dying for something present day again for some reason. We also know that the season will be more “female centric”, which I’ve got no problem with. And that Kathy Bates’ character will be more evil that anyone she’s ever playing, including Annie Wilkes, which I’m also OK with.

Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga will all star. It will shoot in New Orleans and air on FX.

NICE!! I’ll be glad to watch something a little different. So sick of zombies and vampires. Though, for some reason, ‘AHS: Coven’ is an incredibly generic title. ‘AHS: Asylum’ while just as generic had a sort-of ring to it.

Cant wait till this season starts!

LOVE American Horror Story (even though Asylum hasn’t even aired over here in New Zealand yet).

I think American Horror Story: Salem would have been cooler, but if there’s witches involved, I’m in – regardless of the title.

Personally I’m thrilled Evan Peters is back. Though he never truly thrilled me as Tate in season 1, though there was nothing wrong with him at all, he blew me away in season 2 as Kit Walker with his complete 180* turnaround performance. Adding to that it’s about Witches, I can’t wait! Love how they’re doing something totally new and different each season!

I also think its great they do something new each season! It’s so cool seeing the actors do new and different roles!

What would be so cool about that? Everyone would be dressing in dark and drabby clothes…lots of nuns and preachers and bad accents…We JUST had a season (Asylum) in that kind of sense…I mean what would be interesting to see in those old days where everything was ran by Religion?

        • K-Dogg

I don’t think you quite understood what Emrose was even saying there Romeo???

  • Zombie-Killa

general batshittery??? LOL. I’ll have to remember to use that somewhere else down the line, Evan.

This is great news, and I can’t wait for AHS season 3! Hopefully, everything won’t devolve into a mess of shit during the last three or four episodes….again.

I so agree with ya, both seasons had poor final episodes, which is such a shame when that is the last thing that we see of it.

I don’t understand how anyone could possibly think that season 3 sounds good, being more “female centric” as well as when they said they wanted to lighten it all up and do more romantic horror, whatever the fuck that is, sounds to me like they are trying to hard to reach other demographics and sacrificing the real integrity of what up until the coming 3rd season was one the best shows on TV just for more commercial “success” I hope I’m wrong but so far everything I’ve read about season 3 makes it sound like run of the mill prime time drivel

  • EmRose87

I’d love to see it set during the Salem witch trials!

    • Taboo

      Same here!

  • ThunderDragoon

Witches are my favorite supernatural beings in movies and TV so I’m very happy that this coming season is centered around them. I’m so excited for this.

  • Mr.Mirage

N’lawns Witches…. I hear voodoo drums in the distance. Put it in the French quarter…

  • evilfairydust

Not too excited. I only the watched the first couple episodes of the last season because I just wasn’t impressed. I do wish they do a season in New Orleans, for sure! They need to research Dauphine Lalaurie and do something with that.
