‘World War Z’ Theatrical Posters Piles the Zombies Miles High!

Paramount Pictures has provided Bloody Disgusting with the first theatrical poster for Marc Forster’s World War Z, their zombie movies raising the dead on June 21. The initial release was a black and white “comic”-esque version of the final, colorful one that just leaked online. The colored version is easily one of the best one-sheets of the year! Check ’em both out inside.

Starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse, the one-sheet displays a mile-high piling of rotting, decaying zombies attacking a helicopter.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

This looks like crap. NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK! I don’t even see why they are even naming it after the book!

Seriously, will someone ever do a proper zombie? Where the stages of decay does effect their agility?
Running Zombies=Fresh. New. Extremely Dangerous. (28 Days Later)
Light Runners=Been dead for awhile and lost some parts as well as speed.
Slow walkers=Dead for long while. Haven’t ate in awhile. About to die off from their short reanimation. Deadly in groups. (RE 1-3 or Night of the Living Dead)

    • Skratchy

Yeah, why aren’t ZOMBIES more realistic? Because they aren’t real!

And 28 Days Later zombies are fast because they AREN’T traditional zombies. They were infected by a virus.

      • Dante18delisle

And they technically weren’t even zombies. They didn’t eat flesh and they didn’t need to be shot in the head to be killed. I so agree with your Zombies aren’t real point too.

        • ChildoftheKoRn

I agree with OP. This would help with the genre alot instead of just a cut and dry scheme. Also the 28 days later zombies starved to death, they do eat.

The modern zombie is still a fresh idea and hasn’t changed much in the 50 years its been around. It can still be tweaked to make it more horrifying. This does not include the SyFY channels vision of “Add more make up to make the face and teeth look different and that’ll do”.

    • djblack1313

romeostruedude, even though i’m excited for WWZ, i DO love your idea for a proper zombie flick. very much so.

    • Michael_M

“Seriously, will someone ever do a proper zombie? Where the stages of decay does effect their agility?”

romeostruedude, I think you will be very interested in a zombie film called Halley that was mentioned on Twitch but has not received any coverage here on BD.

      • Scorpionsy

@Michael_M – Thanks for sharing this “Halley” movie. If they have the concept of different zombie decay stages and abilities, I am all for it…I just hope the movie story itself and implementation does not suck.

        • djblack1313

Scorpionsy, i agree. the person who wrote that Halley article basically says it borders on boring. the movie sounds more like a drama than a horror/action zombie movie but i WILL keep a look out for it. you never know it could be good!

    • Scorpionsy

@romeostruedude – That is an excellent idea of zombies in different stages ..and is way more Realistic. Very cool idea there..I hope someone reads this and implements this in a cool zombie movie in the future.

  • Kroork

I like the poster, not sure about the movie

  • djblack1313

    i love this poster! awesome!

  • Auberon

The book wasn’t that great, and it looks like the movie will be even worse. You would think with the money being thrown at this project something decent would have come of it.

  • ttop33

I like the idea of infected maniacs running and swarming things like a hive mind but the films CG isn’t believable enough to pull it off. The poster looks good but the images’ in the film that it’s based on, visually fit better in video games.

  • Scorpionsy

People are saying there is a huge political undertone in this movie that the average viewer does not understand…about a New World Order (that conspiracy theorists say is taking shape)…and stuff like Brad Pitt mowing down hoards of zombies (presumably Zombie Palestinians)with a machine gun in the scene where they are trying to climb over the Israeli Separation Wall (which actually exists in Israel)…the U.N. (Angelina Jolie being a false face of the U.N. as if they want to really help people around the world)….Eradication of a vast majority of the human population being a plan of the New World Order (starting with test area’s of the world like how SARS was exposed in parts of Africa as a test phase for deadlier Bio-Chemical Weapons)…etc..etc. Many political undertones they say are in this movie…like a trailer to what will be happening soon enough to the world and its population by this supposed New World Order.

I am hearing a lot of weird stuff about this…never read the book though myself.

    Poster looks cool though.

    • ttop33

I’ve heard The Dark Knight Rises was a conspiracy as well. I think those connections are made by conspiracy junkies who have to fill four hours of airtime a day. There’s probably a political undertone to this film, like many zombie films, but the nwo making movies about their plans is about as ridiculous as it gets.

      • Scorpionsy

Maybe so, but if it was true in the case that this NWO were making movies about their actual evil plans for the world…that would be the biggest/cruelest joke on humanity every made! That would like killing a person and going to his funeral type of thing…sick..really twisted stuff. But they again…it’s this supposed evil NWO…so anything goes according to the conspiracy theorists.

    • Dante18delisle

I love this theory, to me it only a theory but I love the idea that the film has subliminal meanings.

    • Mives

I’d say watch Alex Jones’ assessment of the book. The funniest fucking thing I have ever seen. Ive read the book, a few times actually. If you can walk away from it with the impression that it is a connected to this so called “NWO” conspiracy, then you will just about believe anything.

      • Scorpionsy

Yeah, Alex Jones is one of the people who really believes this is the work of the NWO…and it is like a joke on the world but telling them sort of what they should be looking forward to…Mass Eradication of the world’s population.

    • grayghost

After reading these comment I feel like the guy in the AT&T commercial with the kids…When the little girl is talking about getting bite by a warewolf…then the interviewer guy then says…eh,what.

      • djblack1313

grayghost, LOL. i love those commercials. they are funny. 🙂

  • DarrelDreadful

Love this poster! I hope this movie is good, it looks like it could be either fun or very dull.

  • Milk

I read the book about 5 years ago and it really wasn’t that great. I really don’t mind if the movie diverts from the original stories. I don’t see why people say this movie looks bad. It’s a big action blockbuster with zombies and brad pitt. It should be a fun watch.

  • djblack1313

i love both versions of this poster!

  • doomas10

I just found my new favourite poster to buy. Seriously do not understand where the hate is coming from that film. Sure it could be a lame adaptation (of a book that I haven’t read) but the swooping chaotic scenes are utterly convincing and seeing the zombie/or whatever pile creeps me out a bit. I have said it before that personally I think this is a witty idea-zombies just swarming everything in their path for a bit of human flesh ^_^

    • Dante18delisle

Thats what I love about the zombies in the trailer, their dead, their crazed and they’ll do anything to get flesh. It also dehumanizes them and I love that.

      • doomas10

Yes exactly! I even think they animation to be top notch :/ I do not see why this is wrong. Seems they are trying to pull off something different that really shows the chaos that ensures in situations like this in a realistic frame. That airplane sequence (as I am claustrophobic :/ ) seems legit due to the unavoidable status of the situation – imagine this! What would you do?

    • djblack1313

doomas10, which version do you want for a poster. i love them both. i want them both. i will boy them both! LOL.

      • grayghost

I bet you’ll.. “boy them both”..

        • doomas10

          I think he meant “buy”!

          • djblack1313

LOL! thanx doomas10, yeah, i meant buy. but i’ll “boy” Brad Pitt! LOL.

      • doomas10

Both but the black and white appeal to me more for reasons that I am not in a position to understand 😀 although the coloured one looks more “bleak” due to the background “weather” and “environment” (cannot express it in English as I think I have used all my foreign vocabulary 😀 ) I seriously need to buy these!

  • diapers

At first I found myself pretty annoyed at how the film seems to defile the excellent structure and plot of the book. And I’m also equally appalled at Mr. Pitt’s hairdo. But I’m starting to warm up to this film. The trailers make it look pretty fucking awesome. Count me in the minority that is stoked.

    • doomas10

ha 2 more people in this site are actually happy to see this! Yeah 3 people to go!

  • coldblood

Sorry, this flick is gonna suck.

  • anezka

I was pretty excited about this movie when I first heard of it. I love the book and, although I never thought they would keep anything like the structure of the book (which I think would suck in a movie), I hoped they would keep to the general plot, but it does not look they will. That’s sad, because I’ve never seen other zombie movie which includes the whole world in the infestation.
I will probably watch it, but I’m pessimistic. It looks like the two only things they have to sell it are Brad Pitt and the pile of zombies. The zombies, by the way, look awful in CGI and not believable at all. Every day I hate CGI more because people are overusing it and I don’t know if someone told them, it’s pretty easy to identify when it’s CGI because it doesn’t look real.
My eternal love to George Romero and the real zombies! =)

    • ryaniskira

George A. Romero did zombies right in my opinion.
