Different than the teaser-teaser poster that accompanied the trailer premiere, below you’ll find the official teaser one-sheet for James Wan’s The Conjuring that delivers a chilling and classic horror look like something out of the 70′s.

In theaters July 19, “Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The film stars “Bates Motel’s” Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver, and Sterling Jerins.

Gorgeous! Even if I don’t end up liking the film (I’m sure I will though) I really love the classic vibe it’s going for. Kind of reminds me of ‘The Changeling’. It seems like the return of classic ghost stories with films like ‘Insidious’, ‘The Woman in Black’, and now this bringing back the tone!

I’ve been on a random binge of bad ghost stories from the late 1990′s early 2000′s, the first time in almost a decade ‘Thir13en Ghosts’, ‘Ghost Ship’, ‘House on Haunted Hill (1999)’, and ‘The Haunting (1999)’ have come on my shelf. This has increased my gratitude for things like this. Few sub-genres carry the power to hold suspense like a ghost story does. Classic tales told well.

Aaron this is from 1980 and i’m sure you’ve already seen it but THE CHANGELING (my all time favorite movie along with Carpenter’s THE FOG) if you haven’t seen it you will LOVE IT!

I just bought the DVD last week! I haven’t seen it since I was a young buck but I remember the tone and suspense!
