Rock group Skillet have announced that they will be releasing their ninth studio album Rise on June 25th. The album is the followup to 2009’s Awake and is produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects). It also serves as the band’s first concept album, telling the story of an American teenager coming into adulthood.
Bassist/singer John Cooper states, “The narrative idea happened after we had 10 or 11 of the songs chosen. As we recorded them, we started to realize that there was something going on—that the album was really telling a story. Realizing that, I knew we needed to make it as powerful as we could.”
The album’s first single “Sick Of It” will be available on iTunes on April 9th.
