Bruce Campbell On ‘Evil Dead 4’ aka ‘Army Of Darkness 2’

So recently we’ve all kind of heard that Evil Dead 4 might be, according to Bruce Campbell at least, essentially Army Of Darkness 2. While I’d prefer things go back to the woods – I can’t say I fault them for this either. Going bigger and weirder might be the most fun for Raimi and Campbell at this point.

Empire Online recently caught up with the chin himself who explained that the new remake gave them the juice to start up again, “The reception to this movie [Fede Alvarez’ remake] has been pretty good so far, so it encouraged Sam and I to go, ‘well crap, maybe we should dust the old chainsaw off. If this movie helps us make another Army Of Darkness – Army Of Darkness 2 – then so be it.

But Army Of Darkness has two different endings! Which one would it continue from? Head inside…

Campbell says he would prefer to pick things up from the alternate ending. “I would think the post-Apocalyptic because it gives great possibilities for an Omega Man movie, and who he might be fighting against. It would be a very interesting world. But I’m fine either way. I’m sure Sam will concoct some ridiculous story and an outrageous journey, so I don’t really care where it starts and ends. The fun thing is working again with Sam Raimi. That’s the only reason to do these incredibly difficult movies than work for a guy who you really like working with and who you respect.

Either way I’d watch it 🙂

  • Joe-Banger

Ive seen both endings of Army of Darkness so Im down with this idea!

  • Remember-Slithis

I like the S-Mart ending better but the other one would make a better idea for part 2 for sure!At least they are talking more like they will make it so I’m happy!

Regardless of whether or not I like the remake as much as I think I will, I would rather see a franchise grow from that than more slapstick AoD stuff. I think that’s just me though.

    • ThunderDragoon

It’s not just you! I agree. They should keep that funny stuff in the past and move on.

  • Voorhees83

I’m more of a fan of the original series continuing the stories then all of these remakes for the newbies who probably don’t even know what the originals are. What is the point of re-telling a story anyways? I vote for AOD2.

Army Of Darkness 2? Yeah, sure baby, why not?

I’d rather they went with the Planet Of The Apes ending in all honesty.
Just as long as Ash quotes the immortal “I’m getting too old for this shit!” line at some point.

I see nothing wrong with having sequels to the original franchise AND sequels to the remake.
Using Army Of Darkness in the title would take away the confusion.

Then again I’m desperate for new Halloween and F13th sequels that ignore the remakes and just go back to the original franchises.

Well I’d go see it, I already know that. It just needs to be a great as the movies that came out prior. All this talk basically tells me it’s happening. But Hollywood always makes weird choices so you never know I guess.

  • NixEclips

No. Don’t start drinking the kool-aid. They’re doing to us, again! It won’t happen, will never happen, is never ever in any continuum going to happen, so stop buying into their bullshit. How many years have the fans been hearing variations on the same damn thing?
