Sad news has emerged from the music world as famed producer/engineer Andy Johns passed away on Sunday at age 61. According to guitarist Stacey Blades, who was collaborating on a project with Johns, the producer had entered the hospital 10 days ago and that his health wasn’t doing so well over the past six months.
Johns was the engineer for many of Led Zeppelin‘s biggest albums, including Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses Of The Holy, and Physical Graffiti. He produced Van Halen‘s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and two albums from guitar legend Joe Satriani. Johns also engineered the Rolling Stones albums Goats Head Soup, Sticky Fingers, and Out Of Our Heads.
Johns is survived by his wife and two children.
We offer our deepest condolences to his family, his friends, and the vast amount of musicians and industry folk who knew and worked with him.
