Thumb Through This Bloody Trailer For Neil Jordan’s ‘Byzantium’

Arriving on VOD and in limited theaters June 28 is Neil Jordan’s Byzantium, which was acquired by IFC Films out of the Toronto International Film Festival. A new trailer has hit – and a really dig it! It doesn’t seem like a terribly new take on vampires, but it does seem like a take that we haven’t seen in a long time. Classic, regal, sexy, bloody and stately. It’s sort of like the international trailer we had a few months back, but I like this version more.

Starring Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan, Caleb Landry Jones, Danny Mays, Bradley James, Sam Riley, Jonny Lee Miller and Tom Hollander, the pic is about a pair of women who claim to be vampire siblings.

On the run for murder, two young “sisters” arrive penniless at an English seaside town. Clara is a fiercely modern woman who has her eyes on the future and no time for the past. Teenager Eleanor is shy and innocent. Yet they both hide the same secrets: they are really mother and daughter, and they are both … vampires!

More proof that it’s not always new and “original” ideas that succeed, classic stories told well always win. The blood waterfall at the very end is damn beautiful.

Indeed, its captured my attention like Daybreakers did! Unoriginal concept (vampires) in a potentially well told story? I’m going along for the ride and I’ll likely well enjoy it!

I’ve never seen Gemma in anything, though I’ve heard good things about ‘Hansel & Gretel’ and great things about ‘Alice Creed’

I just want to see Gemma (she looks REALLY creepy in that pic above). I don’t care about anything else. Just give me Gemma! Oh, and cool trailer.

Sold! Great trailer, actors and director.

Personally, this didn’t do much for me. This looks like a very samey vampire film, though at least it doesn’t look like it glamourises being a teen vampire! Let the Right One In is my favourite vampire film.

Not even Gemma under a blood-waterfall will get me to see this garbage. -sigh-
