Red Band Trailer For ‘Hatchet III’ Keeps The Blood (And The Balls)!

In limited theaters June 14 from MPI/Dark Sky Films, the official red band trailer for Hatchet III has now premiered (via EW)! It looks pretty good, seemingly placing Danielle Harris’ character in jail for much of the running time. Are those balls in the tree Colton Dunn’s balls from Part 2? We’ll have to find out!

The film marks the directorial debut of BJ McDonnell who previously has handled A and B camera operations on such features as Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and the first two Hatchet films. Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder return in Hatchet III and are joined by Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Derek Mears (Friday the 13th 2009), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs) and others.

The film continues the tale of the now-iconic villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

    Looks REALLY good 😀

looks ok. the trailer is kind of all over the place. as long as this entry is better than the awful part 2 i’ll be happy.

Then I see no possible way of you being unhappy, it would be very hard to be worse than part 2!

  • dirtyghettok

I wish this could get a wide release.. This is what horror needs in the mainstream. Show it as the fun crazy, not cheesy teen slasher movie with no imagination. Just watching that trailer gives me a grin from ear to ear…

Unless your movie has a huge studio behind it or its a formulated, predictable piece of shit…it wont be seen in theatres.

  • Psycrow

Loved the first two, and can’t wait for this one!

  • Aaron Emery

Looks like it has potential! No way can it be worse than 2.
2 things worry me though; again it looks as though there is way too many characters, kind of the same approach as part 2. My other worry is Danielle Harris, she didn’t have many lines in the trailer and her acting in part 2 was, frankly, atrocious.
I do, however, like that it seems darker yet still campy.

Her acting in 2, I think, was intentional. The Hatchet films wouldn’t exactly be what they are without the occasional shlock on the acting. Even Tony Todd was a little hammy at times in both films. My main gripe with the first 2 was the comedy. It just didn’t fit the mood of the movie, and the jokes were a little too cheeky, for me. Hopefully, BJ McDonnel lays back on that.

      • Aaron Emery

I guess that’s possible too, I just think the southern accent was so godawful that it couldn’t have been intentional. Also Colton Dunn’s portrayal of Anthony Anderson was absolutely unbearable. Not even remotely funny or entertaining.

Come on. Saying her acting was intentionally bad is a cop out. Either the whole film plays that way or not at all. Her acting was bad because the directing was bad. Part 2 was atrocious. Part 1 was fun for what it is. Hardly genre changing. And even that film, Green states he intentionally laid out paper thin characters. Really? Give me a break. You either know how to make rounded characters or not and saying you intentionally made them stock is a cop out (unless you are doing straight up parody, which he wasn’t).

If Crowley didn’t look so freakin dumb I could enjoy these films more… I do appreciate the creative kills though

“These are somebodies balls!” LMAO! Looks really fun, can’t wait to catch this. Makes me miss the classic 80’s horror lol.

  • ill_mindedd

looks better then part 2. i loved the original, part two was horrible. this one looks really interesting.

  • Ravinus

Hatchet 2 trailers looked interesting at one time too.

  • STRIK9

Looks great to me. The first 2 were awesome and this looks like more of the same and that’s fine with me.

  • ThunderDragoon

Oh hell to the yes! This better be playing in my town!

  • bambi_lives8980

I don’t get all the hate on Hatchet 2, I don’t remember it being nearly as bad as some people are saying. Yeah it wasn’t as good as the first film, but it was still pretty darn good. And Danielle Harris, in addition to being insanely beautiful, is not a bad actress in my eyes. The role she’s in should be played hammy and shit. Anyway this trailer doesn’t look amazing but I’ll see this one nevertheless.
