Guillermo del Toro Made A Special Japanese ‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer

Director Guillermo del Toro introduced a very special Japanese trailer for his Pacific Rim, which features new footage and a toss out to the Japanese actors from the original franchise.

In theaters July 12, “When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Robert Kazinsky, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff and Brad William Henke all star.

I guess in terms of what we’ve been getting LOL>

I would paid to see a dub in version of this like they did with the godzilla films that would be pretty awesome for DVD and do it in B&W like the mist 😉

The black & white version of ‘The Mist’ was great, I wish the studio would have had the balls to release that theatrically!

i think the new footage suggests that the Japanese character Mako Mori was traumatized in her childhood. She lost her parents to a kaiju attack and might have been stalked or chased by one before a jaeger came in

Del Toro did say he’d show how each Jaeger and Kaiju had their own personalities and doing stuff that probably hasn’t been seen in a monster movie. I think he actually gave taking a dump as an example. If that little girl in the blue dress is Mako Mori she probably was saved from a kaiju by a jaeger. I guess we’ll see if it was coyote tango or gypsy danger.
